Gift FAQs
What is the best way to select a gift?
The best gifts come from someone that knows the recipient very well.
They know what the person likes and dislikes, and if they are around
them enough they probably know something that the person wants or needs
but does not have. This makes it easy to select a gift because you already
know what they want or like. Selecting a gift for someone that you do
not know as well can be a little bit more difficult. If it is for a
certain holiday, that can make it easier. There are some gifts that
are just for men, and some that are just for women so if you can narrow
it down that far at least it helps. Being creative is very important
when selecting gifts and a surprise is always appreciated.
When should I give someone a gift?
Anytime you feel it would be appreciated. Gifts do not need to be given
only on holidays and special events. Some of the best gifts are ones
that arrive “out of the blue” or unexpectedly. The regular
gift giving holidays are Christmas, Valentines Day, birthdays, weddings,
anniversaries, mothers and fathers days and other momentous events in
a persons life such as graduation or a bar mitzvah but they should not
be limited to those. A gift can be as simple as cleaning up for someone
or as involved as an entire vacation.
How much should I spend on a gift?
That is a question many people think about when they feel like giving
a gift is necessary. There is no correct answer to that question either.
A gift is valued for many reasons and often the price of the gift is
meaningless. I have seen people get incredibly expensive gifts that
they didn’t know how to use and ended up not being appreciated
at all. On the other hand I have seen people treasure a gift that was
found at a garage sale and purchased for 50 cents. The value of the
gift is decided by the recipient so to give a valuable gift would be
to give a gift that will be appreciated by the intended recipient. Handcrafted
gifts can be greatly appreciated and are often very cheap and easy to
make.
